Effective Date: July 19, 2026
THIS PRIVACY POLICY DESCRIBES HOW SQUAWKLINK TECHNOLOGIES, LLC (“SQUAWKLINK,” “WE,” “US”), 21 W EASY STREET, SUITE 103, SIMI VALLEY, CA 93065, COLLECTS, USES, AND DISCLOSES PERSONAL INFORMATION THROUGH THE SQUAWKLINK.COM WEBSITE, THE SQUAWKLINK MOBILE APPLICATION, AND THE ASKYOUR™ SERVICES (THE “SERVICES”). IT APPLIES TO VISITORS, WAITLIST MEMBERS, AND SUBSCRIBERS.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information, described using the categories in California Civil Code § 1798.140:
Category | What we collect |
|---|---|
Identifiers | Name, email address, phone number, account credentials, and aircraft N-number(s) you register. (N-numbers are drawn from and cross-referenced against the public FAA registry.) |
Commercial information | Subscription tier, transaction history, and Charter Program status. Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe, our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers. |
Professional information | For mechanic, IA, and FBO accounts: FAA certificate type and number, business name, and shop details you provide. |
Audio/visual information | Photos, videos, and voice descriptions you attach to Squawk reports. |
Geolocation (including precise geolocation) | The GPS position of your device captured at the moment you file a Squawk, to stamp the maintenance event. SquawkLink does not continuously track your location; location is collected only at filing, and only with the device permission you control. |
Documents and records you upload | Aircraft logbooks, maintenance records, and related documents (PDF/CSV or manual entry), and the structured maintenance history extracted from them. |
Internet activity | Device type, app version, log data, and usage information collected automatically to operate, secure, and improve the Services. |
Inferences | Maintenance-related analyses generated by the Services from the information above (for example, probable-cause analyses and compliance status). |
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16, and the Services are not directed to them.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the Services: creating your account and aircraft profile, building your Logbook Intelligence Dashboard, transmitting Squawks to the mechanic or facility you select, generating AskYour™ A&P analyses, and pre-filling FAA forms for your review;
- To process payments, manage subscriptions, and send transactional messages (including the subscription acknowledgment and any legally required renewal notices);
- To provide support, secure the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law;
- To improve the Services, including through de-identified and aggregated analysis of maintenance trends;
- With your consent, to send product news — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
We do not use your personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the Services you request.
3. AI Processing
Squawk reports, logbook records, and related content you submit are processed by the AskYour™ A&P engine, which uses third-party AI infrastructure providers under contract with us. Our AI providers process your content to deliver the Services and do not use it to train their general-purpose models. AskYour™ output is informational and is always subject to your and your mechanic’s review.
4. How We Share Information
- With the mechanic or facility you select — sharing your Squawk, aircraft profile, and relevant maintenance history with the recipient you choose is the core function of the Services;
- With service providers acting on our behalf under contract — payment processing (Stripe), cloud hosting, AI infrastructure, email delivery, and analytics — who may use the information only to provide services to us;
- With the FAA, only when a certificated user reviews and submits a filing (such as an SDR) — the submitting user controls the submission;
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and security;
- In a business transfer — as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we do not sell or share personal information, we do not offer a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link. We collect precise geolocation (a category of sensitive personal information) solely to provide the Services you request, so a “Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information” link is likewise not required; if our practices ever change, we will update this Policy and provide the required mechanisms first.
5. Your Privacy Rights
California residents may request, subject to verification and legal limits: (a) to know/access the personal information we hold about you, including the categories collected, the purposes, and the categories of recipients; (b) correction of inaccurate personal information; (c) deletion of personal information; and (d) a portable copy of your data. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We honor these requests for all users regardless of residence.
To exercise your rights, email info@squawklink.com with the subject “Privacy Request” or write to us at the address above. We will verify your request using your account email and information on file, respond within the time required by law (generally 45 days), and permit an authorized agent to act for you with written authorization. Note that aircraft maintenance records you have shared with a mechanic may also be retained by that mechanic under their own regulatory recordkeeping obligations, which deletion from SquawkLink does not affect.
6. Retention
We retain account information while your account is active and for 24 months after closure; Squawk and maintenance records for the life of the aircraft profile plus 7 years, reflecting the long-lived value of maintenance history to airworthiness (you may request earlier deletion under Section 5); payment records as required by tax and accounting law; and consent and acceptance records for at least 3 years.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and vendor due diligence. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your unencrypted personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by California Civil Code § 1798.82.
8. Cookies and Analytics
The website uses essential cookies to operate and understand usage. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Because we do not track users across third-party sites over time, we treat browser “Do Not Track” and opt-out preference signals as consistent with our existing practices.
9. Changes to This Policy
We will post any changes here with a new effective date, and for material changes we will notify you by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
